SOUTHEND United defender Louis Lomas has yet to resume full training due to a quad injury.

The summer signing has missed the Shrimpers last two friendlies and will not be involved against Colchester United on Tuesday night.

But Blues boss Kevin Maher is hopeful Lomas will soon be available.

“Louis has a tight quad but hopefully he’s only a couple of days away from being back in training now,” said Maher.

“Gus (Scott-Morriss) should hopefully be involved tomorrow but there are one or two with knocks, including Jon Benton with his knee.”

Striker Simeon Akinola will not be involved after injuring his hamstring against Kettering on Saturday.

But the Shrimpers have yet to discover the full extent of the injury.

"We will let it settle down for a couple more days and then we will get it looked at properly," said Maher.

"Fingers crossed it’s not too bad."
