SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher is looking to bring in a new number two goalkeeper.

QPR shot-stopper Murphy Mahoney played the second half of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Gillingham at Roots Hall.

And Maher is keen to sign a goalkeeper so Collin Andeng Ndi can head out on loan.

“I’m looking for a number two goalkeeper who is going to push Arnie (Steve Arnold) and that would allow to get Collin out on loan to develop,” said Maher.

“I’ve been here before when we’ve had good keepers, like Ted Smith, who have been number twos and not played football.

“For Collin’s development I think it would be good for him to get games but I’ll only allow that if we get someone in.

“If Collin stays here than that’s not a problem either.”

Norwich city goalkeeper Jon McCracken had also been training with Blues before opting to join Irish side Bohemians on loan.
