SOUTHEND United defender Louis Lomas came through 45 minutes unscathed on his return to action against Concord Rangers this afternoon.

The summer signing had missed Blues’ last six pre-season matches with a thigh problem.

And Shrimpers chief Kevin Maher was pleased to have Lomas available again at the Aspect Arena.

“It's been stop start for him since he came in and it’s good to have him back playing again,” said Maher.

“You can see he’s a good size, he knows the game and is a good defender that’s also good on the ball.

“We were pleased to get him through 45 minutes and he will train again next week before deciding where we go from there.”
