SOUTHEND United have yet to discover the extent of Jake Hyde’s hamstring injury.

The on-loan Wrexham striker was taken off early on against Boreham Wood on his Blues debut.

But Blues boss Kevin Maher does not know how long the striker will be out for at this stage.

“We're still waiting for the results on that,” said Maher.

Hyde will miss Saturday’s trip to Solihull Moors along with fellow strikers Harry Cardwell (ankle) and Rhys Murphy (knee).

But defender Louis Lomas is working his way back into contention after playing 65 minutes in a behind doors closed friendly against Ipswich on Wednesday.

“Louis comes into contention and he’s we’ve got more training into him this week too which is pleasing,” said Maher.

“We’ll see where he is but we’re pleased he got through the game after missing a chunk of pre-season.”

Gus Scott-Morriss is still not ready to return but the right-back, who suffered a hamstring problem in pre-season, could be back in training next week.

“He’s been out running with Stef and the strength and conditioning department,” said Maher.

“Fingers crossed he’ll be able to join in training next week.”

Fellow right-back Jason Demetriou is still suspended following his red card against Torquay United on the final day of last season.

Blues could also be missing another first teamer due to injury but boss Maher opted not to reveal the player in question.
