ECHOSPORT talks to Oldham Athletic fan Aaron Diskin ahead of Saturday's match with Southend United at Roots Hall.

What are the hopes for Oldham this season?

"I think the takeover has altered expectations slightly but I’ll say a top 10 finish."

How much has the takeover affected things around the club?

"It’s fair to say that the takeover has completely changed the feelings around the place.

"We are actually owned by people who seem to care about the fans and that has been translated in the attendances we are seeing currently.

"We’ve sold 3,800 season tickets so far and had more than 6,000 at both home games so far this season so I’m expecting another big following on Saturday."

John Sheridan seems to have quite a few spells as Oldham manager. How is he viewed by the fans?

"Shez is Mr Oldham Athletic to us, he just gets everything about the club!

"There are some fans that have slightly questioned his traditional style and methods but on the whole he’s adored by the Latics faithful."

What have you made of the start to the season?

"It’s been a bit of a inconsistent start to say the least.

"We looked good on opening day away to Torquay and many would agree we could have got three points a different day even with 10 men for 25 minutes at the end.

"Then for 60 minutes against Dorking we were ruthless going 3-0 up but then took our foot off the gas allowing them to make it a 3-2 finish pretty easily.

"On Tuesday night we were outfought and out worked by Wealdstone who were well worth their win.

"Welcome to the National league I suppose!"

Who would you say is the dangerman?

From what I’ve seen so far I’d have to say Ben Tolliet.

"He's a tricky and direct winger who loves a shot and he’s been credited with two goals for us so far."

What's the team news?

"We e are trying for more bodies in via loans but if we don’t get any before Saturday, the only two maybe ruled out are Lois Maynard and Jordan Windass."
