SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Eastleigh.

Dreadfully poor second half. All the effort of getting in front thrown away and some. Eastleigh players were a disgrace at the end. Unprofessional is not the word, but then that’s the level we now find ourselves in.

@djmikejolly

Football from both sides was pretty average and thought we had poor match management after the goal. I think that's a top three worst officials. Not fit to officiate a under 11s game.

@BookerDeWitty

Wasn't good enough after going a goal up. Ref was shocking but it's what you come expect at this level and no need for Eastleigh players to goad fans. Really hate football at times but not a long wait to put it right hopefully.

@TerryEd123

We are going to be a non-league team for years. Such a depressing thought.

@Moorhouse79 Taking Powell and Mooney off together so early was a bold decision, the wisdom of which we will only truly know after Monday's game. Although we let Eastleigh back in it, I also can’t remember ever seeing such an inept and inexplicable refereeing performance.

@paulhewitt75

Personally don’t think we should have taken Powell and Mooney off so early. We are to happy at 1-0 up and need to be pushing on for more rather than sitting back so management was poor today in my opinion. Also the less said about that refereeing display the better.

@BenTatam1

Only one person to blame today and that's the manager. We were much the better team bar five minutes before half time. He decided to take off Powell and Mooney and we never created anything second half and just invited pressure.

@DKSaville

The ref was the difference. We were cheated out of a draw. The ref should be reffing Sunday park football, he was a disgrace.

@Mickeyw80934873

I can understand our subs, but both Mooney and Powell off at the same time killed any hope of a win and just invited more pressure. Need to bounce back well on Monday.

@DanBasildonBlue

Excellent for 35mins and deservedly in front. Great goal as well. The officiating was shocking and he couldn’t wait to give them free kicks. That being said we were poor second half and gifted them the ball & allowed ourselves to get bullied. Another learning curve for the team.

@dan_mays86

It's going to be a long season.

@sufcberry

Poor referee aside, we didn’t do enough in the second half to win. We lacked that cutting edge needed. I thought we nullified Eastleigh, but credit to the fella who scored from his own half, their winner came from a dive. Andeng-Ndi didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.

@PhilOwen702

This league continues to find cruel and unusual ways to inflict suffering on us. We dust ourselves off and go again on Monday. We also need a sharper cutting edge up top, although delighted that Powell scored today.

@lesleymatt

Shame as we were the better side first half but a puzzling second half as we allowed Eastleigh to dominate with too much sitting back with seemingly substitutions made too early perhaps with half an eye on Monday's fixture @phillsilver9

Today's loss is hard to take. Were we too comfortable after starting well? If we've got any aspirations at all about promotion then we cannot afford to lose games like today. We've got to learn to take real control when we're on top and put the game to bed. Not a happy Shrimper.

@SearchTerry

So typically Southend. We have a bright spell, create chances, ultimately score a goal but then we revert to type and proceed to little to nothing for the remainder of the game and deservedly concede the goals we did. Ref was bad, but that result was all on us.

@Ice_Speedway

Just when you think we’ve turned the corner we take a backward step again! Great first 35 minutes but we sat back & they the did a job on us like Boreham Wood albeit the ref didn’t help. We need to learn quickly or it’ll be another mid table finish for us.
