SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Torquay United.

Disappointing as we play some great stuff but we need to start taking chances. Important to remember how far we’ve come in the space of 12 months, the tide is definitely turning. Onto Barnet!

@BrodyStopher16

Effort cannot be faulted etc but it’s all about scoring goals and we can’t at the moment.

@BlackshawPaul

Lacklustre and Boreham Wood 2.0, too much cutting inside, passing and extra touches at the last oppurtunity, can’t keep their shots down and failing to get it past the first man, the attack needs a mix up.

@JB_Allen

Frustrating. How we haven’t got three points out of that game is hard to take. Not impressed with the tactics of Torquay and the behaviour of their players at the end along with their management. A little more quality in final third and game would have been won in the first half.

@KEYSGK1

Cliche but goals change games. We weren't switched on three minutes in and the game was an uphill battle from there on. Cosgrave offers absolutely nothing in our current system and we need to think about how we will turn our good play into goals. There is promise there however.

@JamesBurton90

Disappointing and similar to Borehamwood, Eastleigh games. Plenty of chances and possession but wasteful and poor set pieces with the height we have. Creativity improved with Bridge came on. Can’t fault effort but need to start hitting the target as it’s cost us once again today.

@dan_mays86

Can't fault the effort but our composure infront of goal was awful. 25 shots with the keeper only saving a couple.

@DanBasildonBlue

For all the positives at this rate we are going to spend the next 39 games playing well but ending up exactly where we finished last season.

@sufcberry

Very frustrating, so many chances gone begging. Referee totally bottled sending Crowe off after he hauled Powell down already on a yellow. First goal when it did come was far too late. Wreh for Cosgrave next game please.

@paulhewitt75

Can't fault the effort we just seem to struggle in the opposition box. Too many unnecessary touches instead of passing or even getting a shot off. We looked a totally different team when Wreh and Bridge came on. Torquay took the two chances they had and we didn't take ours.

@KetchleyShane

Early first goal clearly put Southend off. But why we continue to try to walk the ball in is anyone's guess. The team came to life in the final 25 mins. A loss which really felt like a loss.

@DavidWa18425508

Never recovered from conceding so early. Looked short of ideas after that Bridge and Wreh changed the game when they came on though. Considering the amount of chances, we should have come away with something. Bridge and Wreh to start against Barnet. Frustrating game to watch. @steveg671

A lot of people praising our style of play but to me it seems like our defence and midfield aren’t playing together properly, a lot of space in between them which I think the better sides who we having coming up will exploit massively.

@P_Rourke

Took 64 mins to get at them, when Bridge came on who was our best player. Wasteful in possession against a poor, time wasting talentless Torquay side. Ref watch - absolutely out his depth, though we didn't take our chances today. We need Arnold back as Ndi lacks distribution.

@SenseiPhil2

Disappointing and frustrating we had over 20 shots on goal but only one goal scored. We need an out and out striker. Come on Ron put your hand in your pocket. We need a striker ASAP who knows where the back of the net is.

@Mickeyw80934873

We can’t blame bad luck all the time, or the injury list. We have a great side with no end product because we try to hard to make the perfect chance. Hit first time shots, force keepers to make saves.

@SamjCarey

Still no goal threat, can’t put the ball in net. Same as last 3 seasons. Squad has no height. Everything breaks down in final third as no quality up front. Same as last three seasons.

@PaulTho32949139

Sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition. I lost count of the times they got a body in the way of our shots and crosses. One plus point today was the performance again of Wes Fonguck who gave great support to our forwards.
