HADLEIGH & Thundersley finished fourth in the Premier Division of the Essex League after being beaten by champions Wanstead & Snaresbrook on the final day of the season.

Hadleigh batted first and made 259/8 with Oliver Smith scoring 59 and Matt Brewster 42.

But Wanstead made it home for the loss of six wickets with skipper Sam Handley and Smith both taking two wickets each.

In Division One, Billericay finished third after beating Loughton by four wickets in their final outing of the year.

Loughton opted to bat after winning the toss and were bowled out for 251.

Ross Poulton with 4/25 was the pick of Billericay’s bowlers while Robert Rayner and David Houghton took two wickets each.

In reply, Billericay made it home for the loss of six wickets with Arjun Bhardwaj top scoring with 80.

Grant Roelofsen added 60 and Rowan Elliott 48 as Billericay ended the season in fine style.

Bottom of the table Wickford ended a tough campaign with a 149 run defeat against Upminster.

Upminster scored a huge 460/9 with Harry Jenkins scoring 200 and Essex wicketkeeper Adam Wheater 124.

In reply, Wickford made 311/9 with Billy Corps top scoring with 77.

In Division Two, Westcliff finished third and missed out on promotion by just four points despite beating Old Southendian & Southchurch by 137 runs.

Westcliff made 369/6 with Oliver Wagstaff scoring an impressive 130 and Hammad Ul Hassan 118 before bowling Old Southendian & Southchurch out for 232.

Andrew McGarry, batting at number 10, top scored with 50 Adnan Khan was the pick of Westcliff’s bowlers as he took 4/46.

Old Southendian finished the season in seventh place, just below Benfleet who saw their game with bottom of the table Leigh on Sea abandoned with Leigh on 37/0.

In Division Three, Southend & EMT finished the season in 15th place after beating South Woodford by five wickets in their final outing of the campaign.

South Woodford were put into bat first and were bowled out for 142.

Matt Mohan with 4/25 was the most dangerous Southend bowler while Alex Wainwright and Adam Hunt both took two tickets.

In reply, Southend made it home for the loss of five wickets thanks to an important 52 not out from Joe Sibbons.
