BELFAIRS Golf Club members could seldom witnessed contrasting weather conditions as they played their April medals over the weekend.

It was like a summer's day on Friday and still quite pleasant Saturday, but the hardy golfers had to retire to the clubhouse on Sunday as heavy snow won the day.

Schoolteacher Jon Howley took advantage of the holidays to give a lesson to his club colleagues on Friday as the 10 handicapper shot a majestic net 65 to top the class!.

John Gregory (18) shot a fine 68 for second spot while the dependable Harry Burke (13) produced a solid 69 for third On Saturday musician Terry Steele hit the right notes as his fine golf helped him to a net 69, but he was pipped on countback by cadet Josh Hitchcock as the youngster kept up his improved play of recent weeks to claim the medal.

Club captain Alan Gribbon took third spot with a net 73, a surprising score to be in the prize-winning places.

Although conditions were fine it may be the opening of the back tees that caught a few members cold and kept the scoring down.
