DANIEL Brown took pole position in the sibling rivalry between him and older brother Robert.

The Billericay brothers are competing in this season's Formula Palmer Audi championship and contested their first three rounds at Donington Park, Derbyshire, at the weekend.

And Daniel, who made the switch to single-seaters from the Renault Clio Cup this year, outpaced Robert in all three qualifying sessions as well as the races.

The 16-year-old is aiming to finish in the top 10 in the first half of the season but had a best finish of 12th in the first round.

Robert, 19, knew he had been off the pace in testing and saw that continue in the races, with a 19th his best finish in the 22-strong field.

The brothers go into the next rounds at Brands Hatch GP circuit on May 4 and 5 with Daniel in joint 10th place with Russian driver Ivan Lukashe-vitch and Robert in 22nd and last place.
