SOUTHEND United midfielder Noor Husin is determined to bounce back from a ‘slow start’ to the season.

Husin returned to the starting line-up for Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Wrexham having missed the previous six games with a knee problem.

And the 25-year-old is eager to make up for lost time.

“It’s been very frustrating,” said Husin.

“It’s been a slow start and a slow start for me personally as well.

“The injury happened in the Solihull game but I didn’t know the extent of it at the time.

“The scan showed it was an MCL grade one.

“It could have been worse but you never want to miss any games.

“It’s been frustrating but I’m glad to be back and my knee feels fine again now.”

Husin impressed on his return to the team against Wrexham.

But the midfielder believes it will take a few more matches until he is back to his best.

“I was out for just over a month so it will always take a few games to get that match sharpness back,” said Husin.

“I felt good on Saturday up until the point I got cramp around the 75th minute.

“That was always likely to happen after being out but I was delighted to be back out there with the boys.”

The Shrimpers were on top for the majority of the match against the high-flying Welshmen.

But Kevin Maher’s side had to settle for a share of the spoils after seeing Jake Hyde’s goal controversially disallowed.

“I thought we played very well and were in control of the game,” said Husin.

“It was very frustrating with the disallowed goal.

“That’s cost us two points and I still don’t know why it was ruled out.

“It’s frustrating but the performance was something to build on.”

And Blues will be looking to do exactly that when they head to Wealdstone this weekend.

“Every game is tough in this league, whether you’re playing someone at the top or someone at the bottom,” said Husin.

“We’ve got to match the performance levels from Saturday and hopefully this time we’ll get the three points instead of one.”
