SOUTHEND United midfielder Harry Taylor is back running as he steps up his return from a knee injury.

The summer signing has not featured since the opening day of the season.

But Blues boss Kevin Maher has now confirmed Taylor is making good progress along with striker Harry Cardwell who has yet to feature this term due to an ankle issue.

“Harry (Taylor) is out running with the physio and he will be with Stef (Russo),” said Maher.

“It’s the same with Cardwell as well and they’re probably a couple of weeks away from joining in training.”

However, striker Rhys Murphy – who has not featured since January due to a knee problem – has started to join in with training.

“Murph has been joining in and we’re looking to build him up because he’s been out for such a long period of time,” said Maher.

“He has a training programme we’re adhering to on a weekly basis.

“He joins in some sessions but doesn’t do them all and we’re trying to build him up that way. “

Goalkeeper Steve Arnold remains sidelined with a back problem.
