SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher is keen to extend Marcus Dackers’ loan spell from Salford City.

Dackers - who has scored twice in three games - joined the Shrimpers on an initial month long deal.

But Maher is hopeful the 19-year-old striker will be remaining at Roots Hall for longer.

“We would like Marcus to stay for longer and we’re hopeful we can get it done too,” said Maher.

“Salford are pleased he’s playing, we’re pleased he’s doing well and he’s enjoying it here as well so it’s suiting all parties.”

Dackers’ current loan deal is due to end towards the start of October.
