A HENRY Sandat hat-trick helped 10 man Southend United secure a 4-1 victory at Billericay Town in the FA Youth Cup tonight.

Sandat netted a trio of fine finishes and was joined on the score-sheet by Max Fiddes as Blues triumphed in the second round qualifying clash despite having Mo Amir sent off seven minutes after the break.

But, despite the final score-line, it was Billericay who threatened first with Louie Vosper bursting into the left hand side of the penalty area before a heavy touch allowed Patrick Droney to make a well-timed challenge.

In reply, Blues striker Fiddes saw his shot from a narrow angle deflected wide of the target before his fellow forward Henry Sandat wasted two good chances to put the visitors in front.

Sandat, who was on the bench for the first team earlier on this season, sent a low left footed shot wide of the right post when clean through on goal before seeing another effort pushed wide of the same upright by Billericay goalkeeper Brad Davison.

But Sandat was not to be denied and just before the half hour mark the forward fired the Shrimpers in front with a low 25 yard shot which flew into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

Sandat was at it again in the 32nd minute as he doubled the Shrimpers lead following a fine move which was started by a fine piece of skill from Omari Williams.

The ball was then played out to Fiddes who inswinging right-wing cross was headed home by Sandat from close range.

Billericay hit back with Jaydon Robinson showing quick feet before having a shot impressively tipped over by Finlay Purcell.

After the break, Blues were reduced to 10 men as Amir Mohammed was shown a straight red card after a heated confrontation between the two teams.

However, despite the numerical disadvantage, the Shrimpers extended their lead in the 56th minute when Sandat played in Mitchell Fallows whose left wing cross was converted by a sliding Fiddes.

In reply, Billericay’s Dan Brown fired over from close range before Blues hit back with Habib Bolarinwa saw his shot saved by Davison after neat approach play from Williams.

But the Shrimpers continued to threaten and made it 4-0 in the 69th minute, with Sandat completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot.

Sandat also won the penalty after being brought down by Davison and the striker made no mistake from 12 yards as he sent his penalty into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

Billericay continued to battle and got a goal back in the 80th minute when an unmarked Maxwell Appuah thundered the ball home at the far post.

But it was Blues who advanced and will travel to Bowers & Pitsea in the next round.
