SOUTHEND United skipper Nathan Ralph was forced to miss Saturday’s 1-0 win against Yeovil Town.

Ralph suffered a foot injury at Wealdstone last weekend.

And the defender did not recover in time to line up at Roots Hall this afternoon.

Blues boss Kevin Maher said: “Nathan got a whack on his foot last week and he hasn’t been able to get out and train or get his foot in a boot since then.

“We couldn’t take the chance and now we will see how he’s progressing ahead of Tuesday.”

Ralph was replaced at left wing-back by Jack Bridge who created the only goal of the game for Jake Hyde.
