BILLERICAY Town are out of the FA Cup after losing 3-0 at Biggleswade Town.

The third round qualifying clash went to a replay after the two teams drew 3-3 at New Lodge on Saturday.

But it was Biggleswade who advanced to take on Farnborough in the next round, much to the frustration of Town boss Dan Brown “It was a funny game,” said Brown.

“We had loads of possession and loads of chances but to be honest I think they played a blinder.

“We started way too slow in possession and I’ll take responsibility for that.

“For at least 25 minutes we were passing on top of passing and not really causing them enough problems.

“Once we got in at half-time having missed quite a few chances I looked to address it.

“We got more aggressive and be more on the front foot.

“It wasn’t for the want of trying we couldn’t get the goals.”

And Brown also felt Town did not put their hosts under enough pressure.

“Possession doesn’t win you football matches,” said Brown.

“I’d like to think of myself as a progressive manager but I’d also like to think I’ve got the old school values.

“That was too much new school and not enough old school.

“I don’t think we put them under enough pressure to force even an ugly goal.

“I’m disappointed with that and I’ve said to the players I’d like to look back at it and look at what point I should have recognised when we maybe should have been more aggressive with our play.”
