JACK Bridge is keen to keep on making an impact at Southend United, after his forcing way back into the starting line-up.

Bridge has started the last two matches having been on the bench for the previous nine outings.

And the 27-year-old is eager to make the most of any opportunity coming his way.

“It’s been really frustrating but the boys were playing well during that period I wasn’t playing,” said Bridge.

“You have to keep going and take your chances when you come off the bench.

“When you get your chance back in the team you have to try and take that too.

“It was frustrating but that’s football and you have to deal with it.”

Bridge again lined up down the left hand side for Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Woking at Roots Hall.

And he was pleased to be given the whole game.

It’s good for me to play 90 minutes and I think that’s my first this season,” said Bridge.

“I’m really happy I got through the game and hopefully there are many more to come.”

Bridge helped Blues fight back from a goal down to secure a share of the spoils against Woking.

And Bridge felt it was good night’s work for the Shrimpers.

“It was a good point after going 1-0 down,” said Bridge.

“We had to show a lot of character in the second half.

“They’re a strong team but I thought we played well and if anyone was going to go on and win it I thought it would be us.

“But in the end it was a good point.”

The share of the spoils also made it four games without defeat for Blues and Bridge is determined to keep the good run going.

“We want to keep the unbeaten run going for as long as possible,” said Bridge.

“If you get that momentum it can take you places and coming back like we did shows how far we’ve come too.

“Not every game is going to be pretty and they’re a team who are set up to play a certain way.

“Sometimes you have to fight and scrap and we showed we could do that as well which was good.”

The Shrimpers also battled back from feeling aggrieved following some questionable early decisions from the match officials.

But Bridge wants Blues to rise above any decisions going against them.

“We can’t let it affect us,” said Bridge.

“They’re normal like us and they’re going to make mistakes.

“You won’t get everything in every game.

“But to start with early on it felt like there was quite a but going against us.

“We didn’t feel like we played our best in the first half either.

“They’re a big strong team and I think we had to try and play our game a bit more.

“We did that in second half and showed a lot of character.”

But Bridge is now setting his sights on Saturday’s trip to Dagenham.

“We’ve kept the momentum going and we’ll take that into the big game with Dagenham now,” said Bridge.

“We’re looking forward to it.”

And Bridge also has no issues lining up at left wing-back.

“I’ve played there a lot in the past with other clubs as well,” said Bridge.

“I maybe play it a bit differently to others in the team would and I’m probably a lot more attacking but I do what I can to help the team.”
