DAGENHAM & Redbridge boss Daryl McMahon felt his side should have been beaten Southend United.

A second half equaliser from Shrimpers substitute Callum Powell meant Saturday’s clash at Victoria Road ended in a 1-1 draw.

But McMahon thought Dagenham had enough chances to pick up all three points.

“I felt we should have won to be honest on the balance of the chances,” said McMahon.

“In the first half in particular we created some really, really big chances we didn’t take and you always have that fear in the back of your mind when it’s 1-0 that they’ve got an opportunity.

“They took that in the second half and I thought Southend were good in the second half.

“I said before the game they’re a good footballing team but I felt that on chances created we probably should have won.”

And McMahon also added the Shrimpers did not create too many opportunities at the other end of the pitch.

“We limited them to very little, even in the second half,” said McMahaon.

“They had a shot outside the box that El (Justham) has tipped over the bar but other than that and the goal I can’t think of another save he’s had to make.

“We still had chances in the second half ourselves and we’re disappointed not to take the three points.

“But we’ll take the point and move forward.”
