SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher has confirmed Marcus Dackers is unlikely to extend his loan spell with the Shrimpers.

Dackers scored three goals in six games during his month long spell at Roots Hall.

But the striker’s deal cannot be extended until Blues are out of a transfer embargo.

And Maher now expects Dackers to head back to his parent club Salford City.

“It looks like he will have to go back,” said Dackers.

“He wanted to stay and Salford wanted him to as well but the position we are in means, unfortunately for us and him, he’ll have to go back.”

Three other National League clubs are now believed to be interested in signing Dackers on loan.
