SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher has provided an injury update on striking duo Jake Hyde and Rhys Murphy.

Hyde injured his hamstring during the latter stages of a 2-0 win at York City nine days ago while Murphy had to be helped off the pitch on Tuesday after suffering an ankle problem.

But Maher is hopeful the forwards will not be out for too long.

“Jake has had his scan and hopefully it’s a matter of weeks with him rather than anything longer than that but we will see how it settles down,” said Maher.

“Murph has had a scan so we’re just waiting on the results of that.

“He’s been able to put a bit of weight on it so fingers crossed it’s not as bad as we might have feared.”
