DORKING Wanderers boss Marc White praised Southend United’s organisation after seeing his side beaten 2-0 at Roots Hall.

Dorking did not force Blues goalkeeper Collin Andeng Ndi into making a save.

But White was impressed with how the Shrimpers defended

“Credit to Southend,” White told the club’s YouTube channel.

“They’re good at the back and Kev has got them really well organised.

“They’ve got a long unbeaten record but I didn’t think we looked a massive second best.

“Kev is doing a proper job here.

“He’s got boys that know their limitations, the defenders are excellent and really well drilled.

“The wingers drop in and double up so massive credit to them and their fans for getting behind them.”

But White was less complimentary about members of his own side.

“The idea was to play early into high areas early but Bobby (Taylor) and Jimmy (Muitt) were awful,” said White.

“I was appalled by it.

“Bobby-Joe has been really good recently but I genuinely don’t think he touched the ball or kept the ball the whole time he was on the pitch.

“But we have a team today that was a combination of boys who haven’t played in a long time and boys that have never played.

“We had a lot of boys missing but Kev has that team really well organised, although we did play into their hands.”

And that went against White’s pre-match instructions.

“I literally said, whatever you do, do not play into the press against this lot,” said White.

“I knew they would press the hell out of us and I knew their back three had the best duels in the league.

“I could not have done more.

“I said about the strategy and playing to wingers early but why on earth we kept passing back to Slav (HUk) sideways I don’t know and why Slav is trying to do a Cruyff turn against the bloke who presses the most on the pitch I don’t know either.”

And White also criticised referee Wayne Cartmel.

“The ref was somewhere between really bad and bad,” said White.

It’s human nature to go with the volume and the crowd, I’m sure Kev would say the same.

“He missed a clear penalty for us with about 15 to go when (Harry) Ottaway was wiped out.

“He went a bit on the crowd noise but the ref has definitely not lost us that game.

“I just thought personally he didn’t have a great game.”
