SOUTHEND United’s youth team players have now been paid for October.

Echosport revealed on Sunday how the Shrimpers’ youngsters had opted to boycott training and matches until they received their wages.

But, speaking at the Shrimpers Trust’s AGM on Monday night, chief executive Tom Lawrence confirmed the scholars had now been given their pay packets.

The youngsters will now be available for Tuesday night’s Essex Senior Cup clash with Brentwood and next week’s FA Youth Cup tie against MK Dons.

However, it is understood coaching staff in the academy are still waiting to be paid.
