SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher wants Shaun Hobson to be at the heart of the club’s future.
Hobson was named the National League’s player of the month for October after producing a series of fine performances.
And Maher is keen for the defender to remain at Roots Hall for several seasons to come.
“Since I’ve come to the club he’s probably been one of the first names on the team-sheet,” said Maher.
“I think he’s missed one game through illness and he plays every minute.
"He trains properly and he’s there every day.
"He’s someone the club should be building around.
"We want to build a team for the next two or three years and he should be an integral part of that.
"He’s a model professional and deserves the accolade he got last month but he has to keep it going."
