SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Gateshead.
To be fair to Gateshead, they turned up, clung onto their lead and took their chances when they came. We never really got going and seemed to run out of ideas. Fair result.
@Lord_Football
Had to happen sometime ,but didn't expect it here.If the first chance had gone in and not hit the bar it may have been totally different, but its only one defeat, its now how we react at Aldershot next week. Keep the faith, onwards & upwards.
@YeattsMatthew
Decent first half performance but credit to Gateshead they took their chances well and looked just more up for it. We rallied well in the last 10 led by an energetic Mooney but the game was gone by then.
@shrimpersaway
Unlucky not to get the first goal when Fonguck's shot hits the bar, I think if that had gone in we would have possibly gone on to win as we were the better team. Needed to be more clinical in front of goal.
@TerryEd123
Fix the off field problems! That is all!!
@KEYSGK1
We looked panicked by the speed of the pitch. It happens. Good for the Gateshead fans.
@JamesBurton90
It was really poor but nothing to be too discontent about. You’re gonna lose eventually, but the manner and opposition is disappointing. That being said, we still had chances to win it. Credit where it’s due, Gateshead didn’t look like a team that are 24th based on that.
@FarmdogSUFC
We seem to have a bad habit of losing against teams at the bottom ( Torquay too ). Obviously disappointing especially in losing the unbeaten run & with the amazing away support (712) in view if the very long journey! Just a blip though hopefully!
@tommyharris57
One defeat won’t make or break our season. Scoring goals is a problem though. Powell doesn’t get us out this division, need to find a way to look more threatening in final third that isn’t just Bridgey getting at the full back.
@jameswhyte81
Disappointing to see the unbeaten run end, and not a great performance. Cardwell and Mooney made a difference when they came on though, and combined nicely for a consolation goal Gateshead were good value for the win, but we go again!
@steveg671
One defeat in ages. Let that one slide and bounce back on Sat. Wes scores and it’s a completely different game. Mooney and Cards looked sharp. Both starters nest week perhaps???
@Shrimptank2011
Lacked energy in the first half, I think they thought it'll be easy.Definitely needed that first half goal.Bridge always looked dangerous.Mooney looked good. Hobson maybe looked over confident following his recent award. Poor show re the throw-in issue.Overall we were better team.
@DaisyRodgers
It’s one loss after 11 unbeaten Anyone moaning is quick to forget how s**t the past few years have been on the pitch and continue to be behind the scenes. Good to see Mooney back. Credit to Gateshead too they worked hard for the win.
@CC_2201
Shame the unbeaten run is over but it was always going to end eventually. Hopefully this is just a blip. With this group of players, I think that’s exactly what this is, a blip. One bad result doesn’t make a season. Onto Aldershot.
@AlecHitchSUFC
Poor to see our run end and the manner of the performance. We’ve had a great run and I’m sure we will have one again. Was a bad day at the office with individual errors costing us today.
@dan_mays86
Nothing we did seemed to work except the goal. Final ball not good enough. Unlucky to hit the bar twice. Gave them opportunities and Gateshead took them. Hard for the crowd to be 12th man so far from the pitch with no roof! On to the next.
@Raycrud
One of those days. Fair play to Gateshead. Didn’t play like bottom place side. Would like to see strikeforce changed next game. Good to see Mooney bagging. Incredible support as usual. We move on.
@ConorSammon100
Disappointed to see the unbeaten run come to an end but we go again next week. All credit to the 712 who made the journey there. Legends the lot of you.
@SimonGDodd
Fitting end to a week like this
