CHRIS Wreh will be wanting to stop Southend United tying themselves in knots at Aldershot Town this weekend.

Blues will be looking to bounce back from Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Gateshead.

And the match will again see Wreh continuing an unusual superstition of not doing up the laces on his boots.

“I was sub one time at Banbury and I was supposed to be rested for the game but something happened and I ended up coming on,” explained Wreh.

“I didn’t realise my laces weren’t tied up and I ended up having a good game so I’ve not tied them up since.

“I carried on with it last season which was a good one for me and when I was on trial here too so I’m used to it.

“With boots nowadays it doesn’t make much difference at all but people do get a bit confused about it!”

“Everyone in the team is just used to it though and so are the staff.”

However, Wreh’s superstition could not stop the Shrimpers’ unbeaten run coming to an end of Saturday.

Blues were unbeaten in their previous 11 league games and Wreh was frustrated to see the good run of results come to an end.

“It was very frustrating,” said Wreh.

“In the first half I felt like we were the more dominant team and had one or two chances but nothing clear cut.

“It’s obviously a shame our run has come to an end but everyone has reacted well in training.

“Hopefully we can bounce back at Aldershot now and we want to get back to winning ways again.

“We’ve taken our mind off the loss and just want to move forward.

“The gaffer said good teams don’t lose twice so that’s the mindset we have at the moment.

“The environment is good and hopefully we can bounce back.”

Wreh is also keen to help make that happen by getting back among the goals.

The summer signing has started the last six games for the Shrimpers.

But he is frustrated to have scored just one goal during that period.

“I’m happy to be playing but unfortunately I haven’t scored as much as I would like,” said Wreh.

“Hopefully I can get on a run and start putting the ball in the back of the net.

“But being part of the run we’ve been on has been good and now we want another one.”
