DAN Mooney says there will be no disguising Southend United’s desire to get back to winning ways at Aldershot tomorrow.

Mooney and his Shrimpers team-mates held their Christmas party in Newcastle after last weekend’s clash at Gateshead.

And, having all dressed as movie characters for the celebrations, Mooney now wants Blues to enjoy a blockbuster of their own at the EBB Stadium.

“It was a good laugh but we’ve done it now and we’re ready to start another good run,” said Mooney.

“It obviously would’ve been better if we were going out after a win but sometimes it doesn’t work out the way you want it to.

“It was good fun and I went as Mike Wazowski so I definitely think I had the best costume.”

However, it has been serious business for the Shrimpers in training this week.

And Mooney is keen to make amends for Saturday’s setback which saw Blues suffer their first defeat in the league since mid-September.

“It’s about bouncing back and making amends,” said Mooney.

“We want to start another run and the lads are still in good spirits.

“The run we were on was amazing so we can’t get too negative or down about one defeat.

“We’re ready to go again and look forward to Saturday.”

The Shrimpers will again be roared on by a large away following.

And that makes a big difference to Mooney.

“It’s an away game but our travelling support is so good they’re like home games really,” said Mooney.

“You look at Gateshead and there were probably more fans opposite me than behind me in the home stand.

“I missed the Barnet game but the lads came back and said it was unreal.

“Hopefully we can keep the performances going to keep them coming.

“Saturday will be a tough test but I think we can bounce back.”

Blues head into the game sitting fifth in the National League standings and have watched several World Cup games together this week.

“We miss the first two games of the day because we’re normally training but we have it on the TV upstairs and everyone stays and watches," said Mooney.

"No one is rushing away and we're staying together as a group to watch the games."
