SOUTHEND United striker Chris Wreh felt lenient refereeing could have contributed to Dan Mooney’s injury against Altrincham.
Mooney was stretchered off in the latter stages of Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Roots Hall.
And Wreh thought referee Scott Simpson could have done more to stop it happening.
“It was unfortunate but I felt it might be coming because the referee had been lenient towards certain things,” said Wreh.
“That could have been prevented from happening had he stamped down his authority a bit earlier.
“But because he kept on letting things go people were taking liberties and that’s what happened.”
Blues have yet to discover the full extent of Mooney’s injury.
