BILLERICAY Town suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Corinthian Casuals at New Lodge on Saturday.

The setback kept Town 11th in the Isthmian Premier League standings.

And Billericay boss Dan Brown was a frustrated figure at the final whistle after losing to a Casuals side who are now 19th in the table.

“It’s a bad result,” said Brown.

“At times I thought we played OK but there was a lack of quality in the final third.

“Sometimes in these games you get so many opportunities you almost become a bit complacent.

“I dread to think how many corners we’ve had and we’ve had numerous opportunities.

“It did get slippery down the bottom but that’s the same for both teams and as results go it’s not good enough.

“You can have all the huff and puff but the result is the main thing and that was a bad one.”

In Isthmian North, second placed Hashtag United saw off Gorleston 2-0 to remain four points behind league leaders AFC Sudbury.

Toby Aromolaran put Hashtag in front 10 minutes into the second half before Emmanuel Okunja completed the scoring two minutes later.

However, at the other end of the table there was disappointment for Great Wakering Rovers who lost 2-1 at Grays Athletic.

Lewis Clark put Grays in front after seven minutes before Sam Bantick made it 2-0 13 minutes from time.

Rovers rallied late on with Billy Johnson on target but they now sit 17th in the 20 team table.

Elsewhere, East Thurrock won 2-1 at New Salamis and are seventh in the standings.

In vastly experienced and much travelled Ghanaian international striker Derek Asamoah, the home side possessed a player of genuine quality. Asamoah, with more than three hundred football league games under his belt, not to mention spells with Hamilton Academicals, Nice in France, Locomotiv Sofia in Bulgaria and three seasons in top level South Korean football, may be approaching the veteran stage of his career, but is still very much of a handful playing at step four level.

And this was proved some 10 minutes before half time when he picked up a pass in midfield, cut in from the right and unleashed a stunning strike into the top corner for his 16th goal of the season.

But, with 90 minutes almost up, and just when it seemed that Asamoah’s moment of class was going to prove decisive, Ryan Boswell showed some class of his own out on Rocks right flank, sending a pinpoint cross over to the far post for Sam Carter to smash in the equaliser.

Two minutes into added time it was a case of deja-vu as Boswell crossed again, this time to the near post where Moses deftly touched the ball past Olajide for a stunning winner, to send the travelling fans into raptures.
