FORMER Southend United boss Peter Taylor is back in football management.

The 69-year-old, who had been scouting for Northampton Town, has been named as the new boss of Isthmian North side Maldon & Tiptree.

Taylor takes over from Adam Flint, who was dismissed as Jammers boss on Monday after little more than two months in the job.

Taylir boasts a wealth of experience as a manager spanning more than 35 years, with more than 800 games under his belt.

Taylor managed Leicester City in the Premier League and also took charge of the likes of Crystal Palace, Hull City and Brighton & Hove Albion as well as Blues in the mid 1990s.

The former Spurs, Crystal Palace and Southend United winger also managed England for one game in 2000, as caretaker.

He famously made David Beckham captain for the first time for the friendly against Italy and also had stints managing the Three Lions' under-21 and under-20 sides.

Maldon and Tiptree general manager Mitchell Cowling said: “I am delighted to welcome Peter Taylor to Maldon and Tiptree FC.

“His wealth and knowledge is second to none and I am excited for everyone involved with the club to start working with him.”
