SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher praised goalkeeper Blondy Nna Noukeu following his fine save in Sunday's 0-0 draw at Bromley.

The on loan Stoke City shot-stopper did superbly well to tip a Jude Arthurs header over the crossbar in the second half at Hayes Lane.

And Maher was pleased to with the custodian's performance.

"He’s come in for a little bit of stick but as a goalie sometimes you do so I’m delighted for him today making that save," said Maher.

"I can’t remember him having to do much else to be honest but credit to him for the levels of concentration needed to pull off a save like that when it was needed."

The clean sheet was Nna Noukeu's first in the league since signing for the Shrimpers.

And his fine save was also highlighted by Bromley boss Andy Woodman, himself a former Blues goalkeeper.

"In the second half I thought we were more on the front foot and we could've won it but the keeper's pulled off an unbelievable save in the top corner," said Woodman.

"But I'm chuffed we've got two clean sheets on the spin now against a Southend football club who, lets be honest, are way bigger than us.
