DARLINGTON defender Paddy Almond is being transferred to hospital in London after suffering a bleed on the brain.

Almond had to be taken off during the second half of the FA Trophy tie at Southend United on Saturday with suspected concussion.

But scans have now shown the 20-year-old requires further treatment.

A club statement said: “After a brain scan at Southend Hospital, Paddy has been diagnosed with a bleed on the brain and is currently being transferred to a specialist London hospital for further treatment.

“Paddy is in our thoughts and we continue to wish him a speedy recovery.”
