ROCHFORD Hundred return to action with a crucial clash at Sevenoaks tomorrow.

Rochford sit 11th in the National League Two East standings, one place and two points above their hosts.

And head coach Danny Cleare knows just how important this weekend’s game could prove to be.

“There is no getting away from just how important this game is,” said Cleare.

“We beat Sevenoaks four tries to one at our place earlier in the season but we only won by five points because they are good team with an outstanding goal kicker and they have habit of staying in games.

“They are also a team that has had some really good results at home, and they’ve run some top teams very close so there is no doubt that both clubs are looking at the weekend as a game they’re both targeting as a must win.”

Rochford were without a fixture last weekend as their scheduled clash with Dorking was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

But that has given Cleare time to prepare properly for the game.

“It’s always frustrating when games get cancelled but it has allowed us to dust ourselves off following the heavy defeat against Worthing,” said Cleare.

“We’ve had a brilliant week’s training and the boys seem really up for Saturday against Sevenoaks.”

But Rochford will again be without a number of players.

“In terms of team news we’re unfortunately still missing a ridiculous amount of key players particularly in the pack,” said Cleare.

“We do however welcome back Ricki Gould and Mac Duaibe after a couple of weeks out, and Rob Gardner who is playing his first game since November.

“We’re also giving a debut to James Cornish who adds some strength in depth to the pack and can play a few different positions which is key.”
