SOUTHEND United star Jack Bridge wants to keep things positive on the pitch tonight.

Bridge scored twice in Saturday’s 2-0 win against York City to take his season’s tally to seven.

But he is now switching his sights onto this evening's trip to Maidenhead United where he will be bidding to secure more success.

“With everything around the club at the moment it was good for us as a group and a club to get three points on Saturday and some positivity around the place too,” said Bridge.

“We want more of that now though and want another good result against Maidenhead but it will be tough going there.”

Bridge is currently enjoying his best ever goalscoring season having already hit the back of the net seven times.

And Bridge - who before this year had never scored more than three goals in the same campaign - is enjoying making more of an impact in the final third.

"I'm really happy with the return I've got at the moment because I wanted to get my numbers up this season with goals especially and assists," said Bridge.

"It's nice to be able to do that but I want to keep it going."

The Shrimpers are currently seventh in the National League standings but are still waiting to receive their wages for January.
