YORK City have dismissed manager David Webb ahead of Saturday's FA Trophy clash at Southend United.

The Minstermen have slipped to 17th in the National League table after suffering four defeats in succession.

And Webb - who was appointed at the start of December - has now been dismissed.

A club statement confirmed: "York City FC can confirm that first-team manager David Webb has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.

"We would like to thank David for his efforts over the last few months and wish him all the best for the future.

"The club has commenced its search for a new manager, and we will bring further communication on who will take interim charge in due course."

York were beaten 2-0 by Blues at Roots Hall in the National League on Saturday.
