SOUTHEND United striker Rhys Murphy seems set to miss Saturday’s FA Trophy clash against York City.

Murphy dropped out of Tuesday’s match at Maidenhead United after suffering a thigh injury in the warm up.

And Blues boss Kevin Maher expects the forward to be missing again this weekend.

“I would’ve thought so,” said Maher.

“He felt his quad after doing some finishing at the end of the warm up so we'll let him settle down for a couple of days and then see how he is.”

But Murphy is not the only Shrimpers player Maher will be keeping a close eye on as goalkeepers Steve Arnold and Collin Andeng Ndi both trained again this week, along with midfielder Dan Mooney and defender Louis Lomas.

“The keepers have joined in this week but they will need a bank of training until they're ready to play and it's the same with Dan Mooney,” said Maher.

“Louis Lomas joined in training and he's getting back but he'll need more training to see where he's at.

“We'll asses them as we go along and see when they're ready to jump in.”

Arnold has been out of action since August with a hip injury while Andeng Ndi has been sidelined since November with a hamstring issue.

Mooney has not featured since the start of December due to a knee issue while Lomas has been ruled out of the last three matches with a groin problem.

Striker Chris Wreh has missed the last four games with a knee injury and is not yet ready to return.

Maher confirmed: “Chris Wreh is still out.”
