SOUTHEND United head coach Kevin Maher was impressed by Henry Sandat’s showing against Halifax Town.
The 17-year-old striker replaced the injured Harry Cardwell at half-time and helped the Shrimpers fight back from a goal down to win 2-1 at Roots Hall.
And Maher was pleased with how Sandat got to grips with the game on his senior home debut.
“For such a young lad he’s got a good knowledge of the game and he buys fouls to be fair to him,” said Maher.
“He’s a decent size and has got a good future in the game.
“I was delighted for him and I thought he was excellent.”
Sandat – a former Eastwood School pupil – has been with the Shrimpers since first signing for the club in the under nines age-group.
The forward made his first team debut as a substitute at Aldershot Town back in November
