SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher has revealed Kacper Lopata has shown he no longer wants to be with the Shrimpers.

Lopata was seen saying his farewells to club stewards ahead of Friday night’s match against Barnet at Roots Hall.

And Maher has now confirmed Lopata no longer wants to play for Blues.

“Between Kacper and his agent they don’t want to be here,” said Maher.

“They’ve made that clear with what they’ve done but that’s above me.

“That’s their decision but like we said this time last year we only want players who play for the shirt.

“That’s what we got tonight and I’d rather focus on them and the effort and application they put in and the desire as well.

“It’s a great football club and people are lucky to play for it.”

Lopata is believed to be allowed to leave the club after going 28 days without being paid.

But Maher was not willing to go into much detail about what happens next although Lopata seems certain never to play for Blues again and it is believed he will soon become a free agent.

“The ins and outs of it I’m not going to get into but his agent made it clear he doesn’t want to be here,” added Maher.

Lopata made 18 appearances for Blues while on loan from Sheffield United last season before making the move permanent in September.

The 21-year-old centre-back has made 26 appearances this season.
