SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat at Boreham Wood.

Proper boring. No actual tactics after we get up to the oppositions box other than cross and hope for the best. Players are knackered and any hopes of play offs are gone. Be a struggle keeping our better players after the shambles off the pitch #martinout

@P_Rourke

The most 0-0 game you’ll see, with three points stolen by the softest penalty call you’ll ever see. But that is no excuse for our inability to capitalise on key chances. If we’re to mount a serious push for playoffs, we need to get the embargo lifted & get some players signed ASAP.

@DanMcSUFC

Pretty turgid evening. Dodgy penalty each, they scored and we didn't. We huff and puff but one goal in the four games against play off rivals tells its own story. At least the rain stopped in the second half.

@Moorhouse79

First half all I remember is the sleet. Second half little happening other than ineffective corners for both. A scored penalty and a missed penalty then a flurry of activity for the equaliser that never arrived. Forgettable.

@greg_herriett

If you can’t score you can’t win games! We’ve got a great defence, midfield but don’t create or score enough themselves, but our forwards are all poor in front of goal! That said, Lady Luck seems to have deserted us too at the moment. A play off place is looking unlikely now.

@tommyharris57

Disheartening.

@ShrimpersTalk

We were in that game creating chances until that awful pen decision - can’t fault the effort of the team once again but we just don’t score enough goals and other teams around us have been able to add to the squad and ultimately that’s the difference #martinout

@CC_2201

Good game overall, both teams had chances but we were edging it till that horrendous decision. But I’m with King Kev on this we need to put ourselves in a position where a dodgy ref call won’t impact us by taking control of games. Which means scoring goals. Which we aren’t doing.

@BNEShrimper

Struggling to create and the little bit we do we need to be more clinical with. Too reliant on Bridge creating something down the left and it's coming predictable, so many times Gus was screaming for it in space but we went left. Battled hard just lack the telling punch.

@KetchleyShane

I think we were guilty of overplaying at times looking for the perfect goal. I would like to see Jack Bridge switching wings from time to time a tactic we used to use successfully in the days of Mark Gower. As far as their pen it looked a very harsh decision.

@phillsilver9

Lots of huff puff and effort. Didn’t take the chances we had. Lacked a bit of shape and showed little urgency when in possession. Very frustrating night for all of us who travelled and I’m sure the team as well.

@Raycrud

Have become very predictable!! GSM might as well have been in the stands watching the game. None of the back three seems to want to give him the ball!! Disappointing and playoffs dream over bar a miracle.

@samgibbs23

Game of two penalties. Fine margins at the moment. Would like the midfield to support the forwards better - not enough forward runs into the box.

@AndrewHackling

Near total dominance from Southend but no end product. Endlessly pass in front of goal, seems no-one has the guts to try and score in case they don't score - which is self defeating. Their penalty was the softest of soft - the ref took ages to even convince himself!

@DavidWa18425508

Yet another game we didn’t deserve to lose but didn’t create enough for our forwards to actually score. Shame as they’re all capable of scoring when given the chance.

@MobbsLloyd

Fine margins in all the games we’ve lost. A combination of embargo, poor officiating, tired and out of form players we can’t rest and lack of confidence in the final third. The inability to freshen the team up like everyone around us has cost us dear #martinout

@paulmellor86

It's pretty simple to be honest if you don't score goals then you don't win games can't fault the management and players effort but they are looking tired only one man to blame #martinout

@lillatimer

We could still be playing now and still wouldn't have scored
