SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Aldershot Town.

Two defensive “slip ups” (putting it nicely!) led to their two goals today. But once again, we seem to be lacking at the other end of the pitch, in converting chances into goals. 10 remain, 30pts up for grabs, top seven slipping away. Still possible, but it’ll take a miracle to make it.

@DanMcSUFC

Went 1-0 up with a well taken goal, but apart from that, we were second best in all areas, Aldershot could play however they wanted, and we had no answer as to how to stop them doing so Aldershot are deservedly going home with all three points.

@steveg671

Predictable and no idea how to switch it up. The lack of refreshing to the squad is showing, cheers Ron.

@sjapresley

Absolutely dire. Players look drained & devoid of any ideas. Can only blame Ron for not paying up and getting embargo lifted. Having said that we spent most of the 2nd half passing the ball backwards. Season over now so we can plan for next season, if I decide to renew my card.

@YeattsMatthew

Positives we scored a goal and we don't play until next Saturday so the players can get some rest except GSM good luck in the C International.

@phillsilver9

Aldershot were better than I'd expected and played some decent football. Despite a quality early goal we were mostly outclassed, tired and devoid of ideas. A change of system with four at the back looks preferable

@cjblues2505

Poor game & for the 3rd home game in a row, we were 2nd best & didn’t do enough to win the game. Players looked tired after 2 matches per week for many weeks & off field issues taking their toll. Plays offs very unlikely now. Transfer embargo has cost us dear thanks to RM!

@tommyharris57

I'll keep it short and sweet. So pleased for Murphy but we are very much without a paddle right now. Season feels like a dead rubber now, and it's up to us fans to put on a show and prove to future investors we are worth purchasing.

@TweetGraystone

Very dull and flat today, we just don’t look at it. Not playing to our strengths and teams are coming into the match knowing what to expect and completely nullifying any form of our attacking threat. We look afraid to switch from a back 5, but I think it’s time to change it up.

@STBlues_

First half we seemed to play well, second half we seemed to almost relax a little and get sloppy, we couldn’t seem to maintain possession of the ball and aldershot made mincemeat of us.

@lydylyd

I think the mental and physical exhaustion of going weeks unpaid, playing 2 games a week with no ability to add to a threadbare squad on a pitch that we can’t afford to maintain properly is catching up with us now. Glad we have a week to regroup and re-focus for the run-in.

@paulhewitt75

No longer worried about individual match results. More concerned about the club surviving for the rest of the season.

@RichardMander40

What an incredible week both on and off the pitch, this weeks results have put paid to any aspirations of finishing in the play offs and a week when the chairman makes a decision about selling the club. The players look mentally fatigued

@GaryWil86649153

Squad looks exhausted. Nobody else to blame other than RM with the club being under an embargo. Teams around us have strengthened and added, we haven’t - it’s noticeable. Second half performance was the worst I’ve seen all season.

@KEYSGK1

No ideas apart from giving it to Jack , can’t fault effort but poor all round. Love Hobson but he got the right runaround today. Strange this run has coincided (again) with the departure of Lopata , he was a leader and one I think we are lacking now.

@magictorchessex

Not good enough yet again, the togetherness, fight, spirit seems to have disappeared. Negative football sideways or backwards rather than forwards. Harsh to say but players were playing better when they hadn’t been paid. Outplayed in last 3 home games, defensively poor.

@dan_mays86

Really poor second half performance from the whole team. Defensively dreadful and no creativity. The season is over now so time for Kev and Co to decide who they want to keep for next season and hopefully give Sandat and Benton some game time.

@DanDobisz

Sometimes you just don’t know why you bother and this afternoon was one of those times. The performance on the pitch was as lacklustre as the one given by Martin in yesterday’s rather bizarre press conference. Those who think we’re out the woods already are sadly deluded.
