ALDERSHOT Town boss Ross McNeilly feared it was not going to be his side’s day before they fought back to beat Southend United.

Shots ended a seven match winless streak with a 2-1 victory at Roots Hall.

And it was the first time McNeilly had seen Aldershot come from a goal down to pick up all three points.

“I thought it was going to be one of those days at half-time,” McNeilly told the club’s YouTube channel.

“But it was really hard to be over-critical of them.

“We made one little mistake but we got back into it and I think that’s the first time under me we’ve come from behind to win.

“It’s a really positive performance and moves us closer to our target.

“The performance, in terms of our in possession stuff, was really good for 75 minutes.

“But after scoring the goal you naturally go into a low block and try to defend.”
