FORMER Southend United defender Kacper Lopata is set join Barnsley, Echosport understands.
The move will also see Lopata head out on loan to Woking for the rest of the season.
Lopata left the Shrimpers at the start of March following a 'serious breach of contract' which saw him wait 28 days longer than expected for his January wages.
The 21-year-old handed his notice and was allowed to leave after a hearing with the National League, despite Blues appealing to the Football Association.
Lopata also spent time on loan with the Shrimpers last season and made 44 appearances for the club in total before his departure.
His fine form alerted Barnsley who are currently fourth in League One.
But Lopata is unable to play for the Tykes at this stage due to the transfer window having clubs for EFL clubs.
However, the defender is free to feature in the National League and will spend the rest of the season on loan with third placed Woking.
Darren Sarll's side host Southend United on Monday April 10.
