SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher is keeping close tabs on his players out on loan.
But it seems unlikely he will be bringing them back to Roots Hall at this stage.
Midfielders Jack Wood and Oli Coker have both shone during their times with Tonbridge Angels and Aveley respectively.
And Maher is pleased to see them doing well.
“Jack Wood and Oli Coker doing well and that’s important for their development,” said Maher.
“Woody hadn’t played enough games but we monitor them all the time and we’re in touch with what they’re doing.
“What I don’t want to do is recall them and then they don’t play minutes.
“It’s important for their development that they’re playing football and that’s what they benefit from.
“If they’re needed then it’s something we’ll look to.”
