FORMER Southend United assistant manager Tommy Widdrington has taken charge of Aldershot.
Widdrington, who had been managing King’s Lynn Town since December 2021 and had led them to second place in National League North this season.
However, the 51-year-old has now opted to make the move to Shots and replaces Ross McNeilly in the hot-seat.
Aldershot chairman Shahid Azeem told the club website: “Firstly, thanks to Ross for all of his huge effort and hard work since stepping up from academy manager back in October.”
“With just six games left, we felt we needed to make a change and when notified of Tommy’s resignation, wanted to act quickly to secure the man that we believe can help us with the final push towards mathematical safety.”
Aldershot are currently 19th in the National League table, five points above the relegation zone.
Widdrington spent five months as Blues' assistant manager alongside Paul Sturrock back in 2010.
