IN-FORM Concord Rangers will continue their push for National League South safety when they host Havant & Waterlooville at the Aspect Arena on Thursday night.

Having looked all but relegated just a few weeks ago, the Beach Boys have taken 13 points from their last six games and are now four points from safety with a game in hand on Dulwich Hamlet and Dover who sit just above the drop zone.

And Concord boss Rob Small – who saw his side draw 0-0 at Dulwich on Tuesday night - is proud of how his players have fought their way back into contention.

“At this moment I’m exceptionally proud of the players and what they’re doing,” Small told the club’s YouTube channel.

“I don’t think people realise how impressive it is and I don’t think they’re going to get anywhere near enough credit.

“We will see if this point (at Dulwich) proves to be a good one but the most important thing is we’re still alive and kicking.

“We’re one of the smallest clubs with one of the smallest budgets, we should be getting relegated.

“But it’s up to us to disrupt it and try to put the pressure on by trying to win the game on Thursday which we will be looking to do.”

Concord head into the game having drawn at Dulwich last time out.

And Small was pleased with the performance.

“At any other time of the season you come here, play like we have done and walk away with a point you would be delighted with that,” said Small.

“It’s a difficult place to come but we have to try and forget results and focus on performances.

“Our performance was outstanding and in the first half we dominated the game.

“We were in control with and without the ball but in the second half Dulwich came back into it and put us under more pressure.

“It felt a bit like basketball towards the end which was a bit stressful.

“When we look at it, we will probably say it’s an opportunity lost but equally Dulwich will think they should have won as well.

“It became so end to end that either team could have won but ultimately we’ve played really well. “

And Small remains keen to do the club proud.

“We’ve represented the football club immensely well in the last couple of weeks,” said Small.

“We owed it to the club to do that because there have been some bad days.”
