SOUTHEND United are back in the High Court on Wednesday morning – with fans again fearing for the future of the club.

HMRC has issued another winding up petition on the Shrimpers, believed to be in the region of £250,000.

And long-term Blues supporter Dave Brabbing has never been more concerned about the club since watching his first match back in 1962.

“Everyone always says we’ll get out of it because we have in the past, but there will come a time when we won’t and that’s my worry,” he said.

“It has to be the most worried I’ve ever been, that’s the truth.

“I gave up on Ron Martin years ago, and I don’t think he realises how much the club actually means to people.

“I can never grasp any of it and why he’s allowed to keep on getting away with it all.

“I can take losing 20 games in a row but this is something else.”

Blues survived a winding-up order, over a sum of close to £2 million, back in March, but the club have yet to comment on the latest court hearing.

And that infuriates All At Sea fanzine co-editor Liam Ager.

“The club was presented with a winding up petition on April 3 and on Wednesday we may be liquidated,” said Ager.

“There have been no statements or communications from the club about this.

“They have had six weeks to say something.

“The whole thing absolutely stinks, there is zero regard paid to fans.

“Everybody in the club’s hierarchy should be totally embarrassed.

“This is our 15th petition under Ron Martin.

“It is a staggering record of arrogance and incompetence.”

Martin did not respond to the Echo’s request for a comment but it is understood he is likely to seek adjournment.
