HASHTAG United reserves got revenge on Billericay Town by winning the Reserve Shield final at Aveley’s Parkside stadium.
Goals from Eddy Cooper and Nnaemeka Anwanyu handed Tags a 2-0 win against a Billericay side who won the league title.
And Cooper, who was named man of the match, was pleased to end the season on a high.
“Having just watched them lift the league title it gave us a bit of a push, and it’s a battle I’m sure we’ll resume plenty of times next season,” said Cooper.
“There’s a bit of a rivalry there as we’re arguably the best two teams in the division.
“They beat us 3-0 early in the season but we battered them a couple of months ago 5-0 at their place.
“We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, and after sustaining some early pressure, I managed to capitalise on some great hounding from Max to put us in front.
“Fletch was unbeatable in goal too, so massive credit to him for keeping the clean sheet. “
Cooper fired Hashtag into a fine first half lead with a scorching shot which flew into the top right-hand corner of the net from 12 yards.
Tags then made sure of the win in the second half thanks to a fine finish from Anwanyu.
