FORMER Southend United midfielder Anthony Wordsworth has joined Chelmsford City.
The 34-year-old made 87 appearances for the Shrimpers between 2015 and 2018.
And he has now returned to Essex to join the Clarets who were beaten in the National League South play-offs last season.
City boss Robbie Simpson told the club's website: “Obviously with Liam Trotter retiring and being such a key player for us last season, we really wanted to try and get experience and leadership in the middle of the pitch.
"We wanted Football League experience as well and he (Anthony) brings a wealth of that.
"He’s a fantastic footballer, he’s a good size and he’s a great character to have in any dressing room.
"We are absolutely delighted to sign him and bring him to the Clarets as he’s going to bring a lot to us.”
