Billeircay's George Liddard claimed his third win as a professional on the Matchroom bill at the OVO Wembley Arena on Saturday.

Rising star Liddard was appearing on the undercard of the IBF flyweight world title contest between Sunny Edwards and Andres Campos and claimed victory over Nikolas Dzurnak, of the Czech Republic, by TKO after two minutes and 29 seconds of the first round.

And Liddard, who is trained by two-time lightweight world title challenger Kevin Mitchell, told BBC Essex: "I barely broke a sweat. I trained so hard the last eight to 10 weeks, really hard graft, but it all paid off. It's nice, you don't get paid overtime!

"I'm getting used to finishing early, the last one was in the third, the one before that in the second, and got a nice first-round knockout tonight which is a first. It's what we train hard for.

"Having the opportunity to be with Matchroom, with the team I'm with at such an early part of my career, I couldn't be more grateful for it.

"And to have the support so early on, which is only going to grow, I'm very pleased with how the transition is going and I think it was perfect timing.

"It's mad, two years ago sitting on the sofa watching these shows, and a year ago sitting opposite him at the table speaking to him [Eddie Hearn] about having my debut and now signing a contract with them, performing on these shows, I have to pinch myself some times, it's surreal.

"It's crazy but makes me so happy every day and I feel like I'm living in a dream sometimes."

Liddard was cheered on by a large band of supporters and is hoping to return to the ring in the not too distant future.

"I want to thank everyone that came out to watch me, the Billericay Massive as everybody calls them!" he added.

"It's only going to grow and I thank them all for spending their money to come and watch me.

"I think three more fights this year, hopefully back out towards the end of July, so back to work again soon.

"I enjoy it. When I'm out of the gym I feel lost, it's when I'm happy, in the gym."

Liddard's success was followed by wins for stablemates Nina Hughes and Johnny Fisher and capped a brilliant week for the 21-year-old West Ham fan.

"There must be something in the water [in Essex]. Essex & Suffolk Water! Thanks to them I guess," he said.

"Big shout out to Nina and Johnny tonight. Nina defending her title and Johnny another rung up the ladder towards where he wants to get to.

"I'm a massive West Ham fan and it couldn't have been a better week. My birthday was last week and my mum got me a big West Ham cake for it and when they won Wednesday I was gutted I couldn't eat it.

"I put it in the freezer and she's brought it up here so when I get back to the hotel I'm going to munch on some of that!"
