CLOSE to 100 junior runners took part in the inaugural ‘Benfleet 1.5’.
Held at the hilly Hadleigh Country Park, the race was open for children aged between five and 11 and was won by Charlie Smith of SS Athletics Club in a time of 11 minutes and 18 seconds.
The first girl back was Amalie Twydell of Braintree and Districts Athletics Club in a time of 13 minutes, 19 seconds.
A spokesman for the event said: "All children crossed the line tired but happy and were all delighted with their well earned medal."
