GOALKEEPER Nathan Bishop has completed a permanent move to Sunderland from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.

Bishop, who was part of the Red Devils squad for the summer tour to the United States, has signed a three-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

The 23-year-old started his career at Southend United before heading to Old Trafford during January 2020 and he had a loan spell at Mansfield in the 2021-22 season.

“You see the direction that the club is going, playing young players and allowing them to express themselves and push on in a great league,” Bishop said on the Sunderland website.

“I think that is so exciting, so I want to come in and earn the right to play for such a great team and a great club.”

Bishop made 39 appearances for the Shrimpers who agreed a 15 per cent sell on clause when letting him leave for Manchester United.
